February 2007, New Moon in Aquarius

Important Celestial Events from
February 16 - March 18, 2007

Please note that all events are dated for GMT.

Mercury retrograde until March 8 when he turns direct at 25 Aquarius. We are all familiar with the "Little Herm" when he goes backwards: delays, postponements, double the effort for half the results, etc. Yet there are, believe it or not, certain things we can do during a Mercury retrograde period that are in sync with this position. It is a good idea to finish up outstanding work (rather than launch new projects). If you have to draw up a contract during this time, make sure that it states that you have until whenever Mercury goes direct to finalize it or make any changes. This allows you a provisional commitment if indeed you have to commit to something but also gives you a way to adjust the situation—as no doubt you will need to do! Question to readers: Many astrologers have said that people who are born with Mercury retrograde in their natal charts, do very well when it transits that way. I have not noticed this one way or another but do realize that even if the minority of people who do have Mercury retrograde in their charts do fine with it, they also have to deal with the majority of us who have him direct. Your opinions are much appreciated.

Jupiter square the Moon's Nodes from February 14-20: This combination is highly idealistic as it combines a difficult lick between Pisces and Sagittarius. Promises made to the public by religious leaders will not be kept. Legal actions taken in regards to social welfare will also be quite doubtful in terms of their practical benefits.

Venus enters Aries on February 20 and remains there until March 17: Best for quick and direct interchanges between people. This is very good for effective creativity when the focus is for immediate gain or instant gratification but no long-term promises, please.

Saturn opposes Neptune becoming exact on February 28th. This aspect has been around for a while, having its initial impact in August of 2006. It's final contact will be in June of this year. This is no one's favorite planetary combination as it tends to create responsibilities and commitments on the one hand and nullify them on the other—sort of like writing your name on the board with one hand while the other uses the eraser. On the world scene this can have a lot to do with problems (opposition) between governments (Saturn) and oil (Neptune). Hello! In the personal chart, it often manifests as a difficulty in aligning the real with the ideal; commitments and responsibilities with the practical focus of the right use of time and energy. Look to the pair of houses in the chart where this opposition falls to see where this dichotomy can manifest for you.

Total Lunar Eclipse at 13 Virgo on March 3rd. Well it is Virgo and Pisces' turn at the wheel! There are so many eclipses in this pair of signs from September of last year to September of this one, providing a time to learn how to clear the life of unnecessary junk. Lesson: refine and synthesize. If that means cleaning up your list of emails that you are never going to answer, getting rid of old SMS messages on your phone, getting your closets in order (both physical and astral), well now is the time to do so. For those in whose horoscopes these eclipses fall in any major sense, one can say in general (but in no uncertain terms): this is the end of one set of circumstances and the beginning of another. In the case of Virgo/Pisces it will have to do with the practical expression of your ideals and aspirations for wholeness and healing.

Sun conjoins Uranus near the Nodes on March 3—This may indicate some very upsetting situations involving oil, the oceans, and wet weather. As, the Sixth Ray of religious devotion and idealism gets strongly stimulated, I would not be surprised if there are suicide bombers today. But in these days you do not need the Sun conjunct Uranus in Pisces (although its position with the Nodes does bring its implications into the (un)consciousness of the masses of humanity) for such "divine" fanaticism. (Please see the Article of the Month in this issue.)

Venus trine Jupiter on March 8—Go out and enjoy yourselves!

Sun square Jupiter and Venus trine Saturn on March 9—A day to pay the bills for the excesses of yesterday!

Jupiter trine Saturn and Venus trine Pluto on March 16—Stock market could do quite well today and I have no doubt that some plutocrats and bankers are especially rejoicing in the world. This is a good day for economic planning, long range travel arrangements and depth of intimacy in relationships. Of course, all of this (and everything else I write in terms of these comments on the monthly transits) in terms of one's personal life is strongly modified by the relationship of the transits to the individual natal chart.
